On the morning of July 16, the 2026 Innovation Leading Engineering Master and Doctor Forum, hosted by the Graduate School of Southwest Jiaotong University and the National Outstanding Engineer College, and undertaken by the School of Electrical Engineering, was held in the Electrical Engineering Building of Xipu Campus. Mr. Yan Pulong, Deputy Party Secretary of the School of Electrical Engineering, andProf. Liu Zhigang, Vice Dean of the school, attended the forum. Some experts, teachers and representatives of master and doctoral students participated in the activity, and the forum was presided over by Prof. Liu.

Focusing on cutting-edge directions including intelligent transportation, energy and power, intelligent control and artificial intelligence, this forum sets up sessions such as expert keynote reports, themed presentations by master and doctoral students, expert comments and poster exchanges of research achievements. It aims to build an open and pragmatic academic exchange platform for teachers and students, promote mutual learning among different disciplines and teams, and facilitate the effective connection between scientific research innovation and the actual demands of the industry.

In his address, Mr.Yan pointed out that standing at a brand-new starting point for development, the school will closely align with national strategies and industry pain points, and continuously improve its capability in organizing major scientific research projects and the quality of high-level talent cultivation. He encouraged young students to maintain keen insight into cutting-edge technologies, uphold a rigorous and pragmatic work style, and ensure that their research "originates from real demands, relies on reliable methods and undergoes full verification".

In the expert keynote report session, Mr. Deng Yunchuan, Chief Engineer and Professor-level Senior Engineer of the Electrification Institute of China Railway Eryuan Engineering Group Co., Ltd., delivered a report titled Thoughts on the Technical Challenges and Countermeasures of the Traction Power Supply System of the Xizang-New Railway. Targeting the major engineering demands of the Xizang-New Railway, combined with the special natural environment and complex line conditions along the route, the report deeply analyzes the technical challenges faced by the traction power supply system in scheme design, equipment adaptability, safe and reliable operation, and shares relevant research ideas and countermeasures.

Mr. Li Xiaopeng, Director of the Research Institute of Sichuan Electric Power Research Institute and Professor-level Senior Engineer, delivered a report titled Fine Fault Diagnosis Technology for UHVDC Converter Valves Based on Artificial Intelligence and Feature Fusion. Focusing on the demands of state perception and fault diagnosis of UHVDC converter valves, he demonstrated the application of artificial intelligence technology in state identification and fine fault analysis of complex power equipment, providing new ideas for research in related fields.

Subsequently, 7 master and doctoral students successively delivered themed presentations around their respective research directions. He Leshan introduced the operation optimization method of fuel cell power generation systems based on active disturbance rejection decoupling control. Li Aokai analyzed the influence of height irregularity and fluctuation characteristics of high-speed rigid catenary on current-receiving performance. Hu Jinhui reported the robust adaptive state estimation method for power systems against time-varying non-Gaussian noise. Wang Mixin introduced the power conversion technology for airborne pulse loads with wide input voltage range. Li Ruiqi focused on the high-speed low-adhesion anti-slip control of permanent magnet-driven trains in his presentation. Lu Wenru introduced the visual admittance control method in feature space for multi-contact tasks. Yang Haonan reported the UAV intelligent detection method for catenary support devices of electrified railways and its applications.

After the themed reports, the participating experts, teachers and students moved to the achievement exhibition area. The participating students, combined with the display boards, presented the research background, technical routes and core innovation points in multiple dimensions. Experts, teachers and students carried out in-depth face-to-face discussions. The "poster exchange" and "centralized presentation" complement each other, which not only fully supplements the technical details in the reports, but also effectively enhances the two-way interaction among multiple parties of industry, university and research.
